Modernized Banneker will be Fabulous!

From the 1920’s through the 1960’s the District of Columbia built extraordinary Jr. High School buildings for 7th, 8th and 9th grade students.  There were two dozen of these large Jr. high buildings.  Each one had all the components of a standard high school including performing arts spaces, choral and instrumental music spaces, art studios, athletic spaces, cafeterias, career/tech and laboratory science classrooms and administrative offices in addition to spacious, day-lit classrooms.  Several of these buildings serve as high schools today, including:

In addition, D.C. architects and contractors have transformed former elementary schools with full modernizations and substantial additions into high performing high schools, with DCPS School Without Walls, among them:

Banneker Academic High School will thrive in its modernized, yet historic school building, which has served Banneker Academic High School for 40 years.
