On Tuesday, April 16, 2019, the [Re]Build America’s School Infrastructure Coalition (BASIC) briefed Congressional staff on our nation’s public school facility infrastructure. Nearly 100 staff from offices representing states and Congressional Districts across the nation attended. Mary Filardo, executive director of the 21st Century School Fund, reviewed the SCALE of our nation’s public school facility infrastructure and provided FACTS & DATA about school facilities that are available by state and district. Panelists shared their diverse perspectives on the impact of crumbling public school facilities and on why timely federal support is critical. Stephen Ward, from VH Strategies wrapped up the discussion posing the challenge for aligning public opinion and infrastructure needs to Congressional action. BASIC coalition members on the panel included:
